Cast Bullet Association

Home Guard is a local colloquialism for Cast Bullet Association Military Match events. The original tenant of CBA matches was to use older military rifles with cast bullets, but we now allow any rifle with cast or jacketed ammunition. Find out more about the Cast Bullet Association at its website: http://www.castbulletassoc.org/

EEGC Home Guard matches are registered with the CBA, and match scores are reported to the CBA for those using cast bullets. The match course of fire is 40 rounds fired from the bench in four (10 shot) stages, two at 100 yards and two at 200 yards. There is no time limit.

Home Guard/CBA matches are open to EEGC members and non-members alike. The match fee is $3.00 for both members and non-members.  Two day Home Guard/CBA matches are scheduled occasionally. The cost for both days is usually $25.00 and prizes are awarded.

Our usual Home Guard/CBA matches are scheduled on the third Sunday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.   See our events calendar for more details.

Learning how to cast your own bullets

If you think you might have an interest in learning how to cast your own pistol and rifle

bullets, please let us know through the website.  Classes are scheduled when there is enough interest.  Shooting cast bullets is a very cheap way to enjoy the shooting sports.  Cast bullets can be shot quite successfully in both competition shooting matches as well as hunting game. There will be a small fee involved to cover the cost of teaching materials.

Older military rifles with cast bullets, like this Springfield above, are in the CBA rules.  Club matches welcome other rifles, including non-military rifles that use jacketed bullets.  But they will count for the local match only, and not the CBA.
