Scholastic Clay Target Program

The Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) is team-based program for students in elementary through senior high school.  The goal of SCTP is to introduce youths to the clay target sports of skeet, trap, and sporting clays that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. It also provides a supportive team-based environment using clay target sports as a catalyst.

Our 2012 Scholastic Clay Target Program season is about to begin and our team, The Emerald Empire Eagles, is looking for youth shotgun shooters.  SCTP is a team-based program for students in elementary, middle/junior, and senior high school whose goal is to introduce youths to clay target sports that can be enjoyed for a lifetime.  It also provides a supportive team-based environment using clay target sports as a catalyst.

Each team has squads based on academic year and experience within their respective division, Rookie (5th grade and under), Intermediate (6th through 8th grade), and Varsity (9th through 12th grade).  The team will be competing this year in American Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays.  To be an officially recognized SCTP squad, the minimum squad size for sporting clays and skeet is 3.  For American trap, the squad size is 5.

You don’t need to own a shotgun, be a member of the gun club or have any experience to begin. There are club guns available for practice and plenty of instruction to introduce beginners to clay target sports.  The team is always in need of parent coaches and volunteers.

Practices begin January 7, 2012, from 9 am – noon at the Emerald Empire Gun Club Shotgun Range. Target fees apply.

Lots of concentration!
